CROSSING THE THRESHOLD: Stories of the Weird, the Queer, and the Uncanny is the debut graphic novel collection by Door Ajar Comics, a Edinburgh-based trans-led experimental small press. Collected within are three short comics that explore the intersection of queer identity and experience with mental illness, liminal space and transience, and Gothic and psychological horror. These stories were all written by august (in the wake of) dawn and were illustrated by Levi J. Richards, the pair that founded and run Door Ajar Comics.

when i dream, it feels like drowning is a psychedelic, psychological horror exploring the grim realities of dysphoria and depression and was described as "one of the most inventive and chilling works of independent comics." The Beast In The Woods is a Gothic fairy story in which a young trans girl is confronted a mythic Beast who challenges her to a violent reimagining of self. Love Not The World is a quiet and sombre tale of death positivity through a trans lens as Dimitrios, a young trans man, is poised to take over the family business from his father as an assisted suicide practitioner for vampires.
